![]() Want to take extra-good care of your cat? You might want to consider getting your cat’s claws trimmed by a certified cat grooming professional. If you’ve never considered cat claw trimming before, here are five reasons why it’s a great idea. Saves Your Furniture Even if your cat has a cat tree or some type of scratch post, just the act of jumping on your couch or favorite easy chair can be enough to cause permanent puncture wounds or scratch marks. The simple act of cat claw trimming can help your furniture always look its best for much longer. Play Time is More Fun Have you ever tried to play with your cat and found yourself scratched in the process? Boy does that sting. When you get your cat’s claws trimmed, those accidents won’t happen. Speaking of accidents… Falling Accidents Are Less Painful We all like to think of our cats as graceful creatures that hardly ever slip and fall. But most cat owners have suffered through the unfortunate experience where your cat takes a wrong step and tries to cling to your arm or leg for balance. Your cat doesn’t mean to be clumsy or to hurt you, but sometimes these things happen. Scratching accidents will be a thing of the past when you schedule feline cat claw trimming. Your Indoor Cat Doesn’t Need Sharp Claws If your cat primarily stays indoors, then claws aren’t really necessary in the grand scheme of things. Your pet is unlikely to have to defend itself, unless you also have a dog that tends to not like your cat. That’s not to say that you need to get your cat declawed altogether, but a cat claw trimming will make living with your cat much more pleasant. Can Be Included With Your Cat Grooming Appointment The good news is that you can get your cat’s claws trimmed at his or her next spaw day appointment. To schedule your cat’s appointment, call Live.Love.Pet! at (808) 734-8282 or walk-in by visiting 1126 12th Avenue #103, Honolulu, Hawaii. We are Oahu’s best pet grooming salon and we’d love a chance to prove it to you. Schedule today to give us a chance to pamper and spoil your cat just like you do at home.

See you soon, Happy Holidays and Mahalo! ![]() Many dog owners shrug off the idea of pet grooming. Why? There are various reasons. Some owners don’t like the idea of spending money on the grooming process, some think their dog doesn’t need it and many are just unaccustomed to the idea altogether. But no matter how strongly dog owners feel about the above convictions, not grooming your dog is not properly caring for your dog. Here are five major reasons why. #5: Grooming is Properly Taking Care of Your Dog: A dog groom appointment entails much more than just a hair cut (or fur cut, as the case may be). Your pet’s groomer will pay the proper attention to your pet, which brings us to the next reason why it’s so important to get your dog groomed. #4: Your Dog Groomer May Catch Things You Don’t: By paying the proper attention to your dog, we mean that your groomer can catch lumps, moles, growths, ticks, inflammations and other skin problems. And catching these types of things early can keep your dog living healthily for a very long time. #3: De-shedding: Think of how much fur would be kept at bay and off of your furniture with proper and regular dog grooming. By making your dog an appointment every six weeks, you can keep your house looking and smelling its best. #2: Keep Your Pet Looking and Smelling Nice: A well-groomed dog is a beautiful dog. Just because your dog is an animal doesn’t mean he or she needs to look scruffy and smell like the outside. Your dog provides you with unconditional love, so pamper your dog once in a while by scheduling regular pet grooming appointments. #1: It’s What Pet Owners are Supposed To Do: Again, proper and regular dog grooms are the responsibility of the responsible dog owner. All dogs need to be groomed and the sooner you make an appointment, the better. To schedule your dog’s appointment, contact Live.Love.Pet!, now serving the areas of Kaimuki, Manoa Valley, Palolo, Waikiki, Makiki & Hawaii Kai. Call (808) 734-8282 or visit us at 1126 12th Avenue #103 in Honolulu. Or fill out our pre-groom form and we’ll call you. Whichever way you choose, we can’t wait to meet you and we certainly can’t wait to give your dog the best groom style you can find in Hawaii. Make your appointment right now and show your dog just how much you care. Mahalo! ![]() At Live.Love.Pet! we offer the fairest and most consistent pet grooming fees in Hawaii. While we do our best to keep our grooming prices as low as possible, our fees do end up costing more than most human haircuts. Here are the top ten tongue-and-cheek reasons why that is. # 10: Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end. While only some haircuts come with a shampoo included, all pet grooming packages come with a full shampoo and trim. But we also clean out your pet’s butt, which would be mighty awkward if your hairdresser tried to do the same thing during your beauty appointment. # 9. You don’t go eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair. Most people wash and comb their hair at least several times per week, and many do it every single day. Your pet? Not so much. So when you bring your pet to the grooming salon, your certified groomer may have to deal with a tangled mess of fur, cockleburs and who knows what else. They’re glad to do it, but they have a far harder job than your hairdresser does. # 8. Your hairdresser doesn’t give you a sanitary trim (down there). Your hairdresser has it easy by only having to trim the hair on your head. If your hairdresser had to give your ‘southern area’ a trim, your hair appointments would probably start to cost a lot more. # 7. Your hairdresser doesn’t clean your ears. Wouldn’t it be nice if a haircut came with a thorough ear cleaning? How relaxing would it be to not have to worry about getting wax build-up? Since you have to clean your own ears, your hairdresser doesn’t need to charge for it. But with pet grooming, ear cleaning is a very necessary job that must be done by skilled and trained hands, and that’s the reason for the small fee increase. # 6. Your hairdresser doesn’t remove the snot and boogers from your nose. Just like mom used to do, a hairdresser doesn’t get a Kleenex, hold it to your nose and tell you to blow. Nope, they cut and style your hair and that’s it. Your pet groomer, on the other hand, needs to become very familiar with your pet’s nose…and eyes! Some dogs have overactive tear ducts that cause gunk and mucous to build up, and that’s often worse than what your pet’s nose could ever think to produce. We clean it all, and we’re happy to do it! # 5. You actually manage to sit still for your hairdresser. How much more do you think your hairdresser would charge if they constantly had to tell you to hold still, or even if they had to restrain you in the seat to do a good job? Probably a little bit more than they’re charging you right now. While we never restrain our pets, we do have to put up with ornery or otherwise rambunctious pets that refuse to stay still. We love all pets big, small, excited or calm, but cutting a pet’s hair that doesn’t sit still can be a difficult job that only a certified groomer is skilled enough to handle. # 4. Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure. In a perfect world, your haircut would include nail treatments to both hands and feet. Well, now you can consider that your pet is in fact living in a perfect world, because pet grooming includes 4-paw nail treatments, too! # 3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head. As pet groomers, we are often required to become familiar with every part of your pet’s body. Your hairdresser doesn’t have quite the same privilege. # 2. You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser. Because if you did, you’d quickly get arrested. While we certainly don’t like to be bitten or scratched during pet grooming appointments, we know that it’s one of the hazards of the job; and we know how to protect against it. Your hairdresser would have little defense if you decided to suddenly become rabid during your haircut appointments. # 1. The likelihood of you pooping on your hairdresser is pretty slim. While there may be instances when you just can’t make it to the restroom, chances are you’ll alert your hairdresser before things turn foul. Your pet, on the other hand, will probably just let the poo fly, and that’s also one of the hazards of our job. Your hairdresser sure has it easy, but there’s no chance they love their jobs more than our certified pet groomers do. And our fees may be slightly higher than the average human haircut, but not by much. Bring your pet into Live.Love.Pet! and we’ll give your special loved one a head-to-tail pet treatment that’s not only AFFORDABLE, but it’ll be one that always has you coming back for more. ![]() We wanted to send a friendly message to our valued clients that Live.Love.Pet! will be closed to celebrate the Holidays on the following dates this season: November We will be closed on Thursday, November 27 & Friday, November 28th to celebrate the THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY! Mahalo! ![]() November is pet cancer awareness month and we’d love if you’d help us spread the word. Just as cancer affects many humans the world over, 1/3rd of all cats and ½ of all dogs over ten years of age may die of cancer. Notice the key word there is ‘may’. By spreading awareness of this disease, we can help to fund charities and in turn fight pet cancer, which takes many of our furry loved ones away from us far too soon. First, it’s important to prevent cancer before it has a chance to grow in your little one’s body. That’s step one. You can prevent cancer by getting your pet spayed or neutered. Here are three very important reasons why. 1. Getting Your Pet Fixed Regulates Hormones: No matter how old your pet may be, spaying or neutering your pet dramatically reduces the risk of contracting cancer throughout your pet’s lifetime. That’s a very good thing. 2. The Earlier the Better, Especially if Your Pet is Female: Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of pet cancer in females. By getting your female pet spayed prior to her first heat, breast cancer can largely be avoided. 3. The Risk for Contracting Testicular Cancer is Virtually Eliminated: If your pet is male and you get him properly neutered, he will never in his lifetime develop testicular cancer. So you see, young or old, big or small, your pet will definitely benefit from that all-important vet appointment. If you suspect that your pet may have cancer, these are the steps to follow. Key Facts About Cancer in Pets 1. Get a Biopsy: It’s very important never to attempt to diagnose pet cancer on your own. That’s because cancer in pets can mimic many other illnesses and diseases. Your vet can make the true determination, and a biopsy is the best way to do it. 2. Get Treatment: If it is determined that your pet has cancer, your vet may recommend one or more forms of treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy or radiation. 3. Maintain Hope: The earlier your vet can catch your pet's cancer, the better the prognosis will be for your furry best friend (FBF). In a perfect world, cancer would be cured and we’d never have to worry about the awful ‘C’ word rearing its ugly head. But this isn’t a perfect world, cancer in pets does exist and this is our effort to spread the news about it. So, to review: Step 1: Get your pet spayed or neutered. Step 2: Get your pet checked out if you suspect your pet has cancer. Step 3: Listen to your vet and maintain hope. Pet Cancer Awareness Month is here. Help us spread the word by sharing our blog post on your various social media accounts. Mahalo! ![]() Does your growl and hiss at the mere mention of the pet grooming salon? If so, your pet’s not alone. Many cats have an inherent fear of the grooming salon, and for good reason. Most salons smell just like the vet’s office. Your cat doesn’t know he or she is about to get a nice bath and fur-cut. Instead, your cat probably thinks he’s going to get a shot or worse. Whether your cat is timid or downright mean when it comes time for a quality cat groom, here is how to alleviate your cat’s fear just in time for your pet’s first Kaimuki cat grooming appointment.
