Dogs are known as man’s best friend. They never leave your side, and they don’t seem to change much as they age, unlike some people. Dog owners find comfort in this everlasting loyalty and companionship. I mean, what’s better than knowing that your dog is always going to be there for you, to keep you company and soothe you when times get rough? Your dog makes you happy. The question is, how long has it been since you made your dog happy? A happy dog makes for a happier dog owner. The better you treat your pet, the more loyal your furry best friend will be. If you think it's about time for a little puppy pick-me-up, here are seven tips for keeping your dog as yap-yap-happy as can be. Small Gestures to Show You Care Sure, you feed your dog and rub him behind the ears when you get home from work. But when is the last time you took your dog to the park and let him run around? When did you last engage your dog with a nice bath and brush down? The fact is, pets have feelings, just like we do. And just like us, any form of affection you show sticks in your dog’s mind; and stays there. It could be a nod from you, a pat behind the ears, or a thorough rubdown every now and again, but these gestures go a long way. The more gestures you give, the more loved your dog will feel. Let Your Dog Run Free (At Least Occasionally) Your dog comes from a long line of canines who ran free in the wild, and those genes never actually went away. Your dog has inherited, just like every other dog today, the urges to run and roam free. The problem is that most neighborhoods don’t take kindly to free- roaming dogs. If you live in a community where your dog is required to remain indoors all day long, your dog will most certainly be affected. You may not even realize why your dog is suddenly so cranky, depressed or even destructive. If only your dog could open his mouth and shout, “I need to go for a good run RIGHT NOW!” The remedy for keeping your dog joyful (and playful) is to take your FBF into the backyard. Or go for a walk or run around the block. The exercise will do you good, your dog will enjoy being outdoors like his ancestors were used to, and you’ll have on your hands one happy and healthy pet. Make Time for Play Apart from playing outdoors, most dogs love to play, period. The more time you schedule for playtime, the more satisfied your dog will feel. I know, you lead an extremely busy lifestyle where every moment is accounted for. Between the kids, housework and your downtime, you don’t have time to play an entire game with your dog. Or do you? All it takes is three-to-five minutes to throw a ball from one end of the room to the other so your dog can fetch. Get a length of rope and tug-of-war with your dog till you’re both ready to fall over. A minute here, a few minutes there, all of these times add up. Playtime is love time, and your dog will surely enjoy every minute he gets to spend with you. Regular Vet Visits Your dog needs regular check-ups just like we do. Your FBF also requires vaccines to keep infections and diseases at bay. A healthy pet is a happy pet, always remember that. If your dog hasn’t been to the vet for some time, call your local pet doctor and schedule an appointment. It never hurts to get your dog examined. Your vet may even be able to offer up a few ‘dog happiness tips’ not found here. Keep your Dog Groomed Grooming is a natural part of your dog’s makeup. When your dog starts licking his hind-quarters for hours on end, that's a grooming habit. All that licking and lapping helps to make your dog feel more comfortable. While self-grooming can help your dog maintain a smooth and shiny coat, a tongue bath does very little to keep ticks and fleas at bay. Self-grooming also doesn’t smell very good, especially when it’s been months since your dog’s last bath. To keep your pet smelling good and feeling comfortable, and happy as can be, give your dog a paw in the grooming department. A professional dog groom doesn’t have to be expensive, but it can have immense benefits on your dog’s quality of life. At Live.Love.Pet! we take things a step further than the typical 'bath and clipper' dog groom. We focus on your dog’s relaxation and total health. With vitamin-and-lavender infused blankets, dim lighting, and a grooming background that resembles the great outdoors your dog loves; your pet will feel like he's suddenly been whisked away to doggy heaven. A thorough body massage will ensure that your dog is fully relaxed, and a full inspection by one of our certified groomers will check for growths or abnormalities that your vet may have missed. This careful attention is paid to your pet before the grooming process and all the way throughout. By the end of your dog’s appointment, your FBF will feel like you do when you walk out of the spa – fully relaxed and ready to sing Happy by Pharrell Williams. That’s how your dog will feel, and what a way to show your little furry buddy just how much you care. To schedule your dog’s Spaw Day appointment, call (808) 734-8282. Why a Spaw for My Pet? Our pets may be animals, but they have feelings, just like we do. They can tell when you want them to behave, when you want them to go away, and they can even sense when you are happy or sad. They even miss you when you’re not around. This means that, in many ways, our pets are just like us. And just like you might like to visit the spa to get treated from head to toe, your pet might appreciate the same treatment. Imagine if there was a spa designed for your pet. There is, and it’s known as Live.Love.Pet! in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Pet Spaw Has Your Pet in Mind First and Foremost Live.Love.Pet! is centered solely on the overall well-being of your pet. We don’t just bathe them; we love them! We care for their nails, teeth, coat; you name it. From nose to tail, we make your pet feel right at home. In fact, our groomers don’t just do this for the money, they love the furry buddies you put in our care, and they love what they do! Pets Can Also Get Stressed Out We center our care around the philosophy that pets should never be scared of the pet spaw. Using various pet-centric relaxation techniques, we’re able to help Tabby or Rosco relax while in the groomer’s care. If your pet is nervous, scared or otherwise anxious, we have just the (drug-free) tricks to help your furry friend calm down. Keep Your Buddy Clean, Happy and Healthy When you get your pet back, your furry buddy will have had a bath, a fur-cut and a massage all over. This has several benefits. First, your pet will welcome being groomed in the future by us. Bringing him or her in next time won’t be such a chore. Next, our certified pet groomers are trained to look for such ailments as skin cancer. In fact, we can often catch things you or the vet might miss. Lastly, a well-groomed pet won’t get germs or dirt on the bed or living room sofa. This keeps the house clean and smelling fresh, which contributes to your happiness and well-being as well. Letting us groom and care for your pet also saves you time, because you don’t have to do it yourself. So why not give your dog or cat a treat every month by visiting Live.Love.Pet! We’ll make it easy. Call us at (808) 734-8282 or fill out our pre-groom form, and we’ll call you! |
